Mission

Chemelion will develop cell-scale technology to address chronic disease.

Chronic disease is incurable because of the limited targeting precision of macroscopic instruments and drug treatments:

  • Drugs typically also kill or damage healthy cells while attempting to eradicate pathogens or disease.
  • Physicians lack fine-grain surgical and diagnostic tools for when diseased tissues are finely intertwined with healthy tissues
  • Especially for life-threatening cancers, vascular diseases and diabetes, neurodegenerative,
    lymphatic and sensory diseases,

and the majority of critical and high morbidity illnesses

Chemelion’s robocytes will provide cell-scale technology
for diagnostics and surgery

Technology

Chemelion approach:

Increase the surgeon’s reach by functionalizing existing endoscopic surgical robots with new microscopic tips, robocytes

  • cell-sized microchips ~25µ
  • CMOS electronics with NMEMS
  • Building on founders’ invention of programmable,
electrochemically active chips:  “smart chemical dust”
